The papers posted here are the results of field research on the sixteenth-century urbanization of Teposcolula in the Mixteca Alta of Oaxaca, Mexico. A particular focus of this research was the Casa de la Cacica, built circa 1550-1576, or contemporaneously with the famous Open Chapel of Teposcolula. The casa de la Cacica is notable for its ceremonial, axially aligned, relationship to the Open Chapel and for its distinctive disk frieze ornamentation. NOTICE: All images presented on this page are property of James B.
